The KEIRO-Eclipse 400/1.6 is a scale model, designed in wood, of the american Very Light Jet Eclipse 400. After maiden in 2007 unfortunately Eclipse aviation suffered bancrupcy in 2009 and the Eclipse-project was stopped.

We have adopted the form and proportions of the original as close as possible. We didn't get plans from Eclipse aviation. but with help of 3D-CAD and lots of pictures we realized the typical shape with the fish-like fuse and the giant V-tail quite well.

Aerodynamically we could base on experience with our smaller Eclipse 400/1.2. Flight caracteristics are very dynamic. The electric ducted fan has very good efficiency in its nacelle, and the fuse shape is aerodynamically perfect. The Eclipse 400/1.6 is equipped with retractable gear and has flaps to reduce landing-speed. Our prototype flies with 90mm-fan and 6S-LiPo. With this drive set it's quite overpowered and we will eventually also offer a nacelle for 80mm fans.

Building the ECLIPSE 400/1.6:
- The fuselage is built in two halfes (left and right) directly on the plan and sheeted with stripes of 2mm balsa.
- The wing is built in 3 parts. One middle section with sturdy base plates for the retracts. 2 outer sections are built directly on the plan and then bonded to the middle section. Wing is fully sheeted. For sheeting the upper surface, wing is placed on a jig, included in kit.
- The V-tails is also in fully sheeted rib and stringer design. V-Tail surfaces are removable for easier transportation.
- Nacelle has a two-part wood frame sheeted with balsa. The removable cover gives good access to fan and thrust tube. The nacelle is fixed with two screws to the fuselage. Its thrust line is adaptable.
- Thrust-tube is not included in the kit
